Haha, what a punk. Maybe if they give him someone with no BJJ, wrestling or striking skills he'll reconsider. I guess I qualify, I'd fight him.

The guy gets beat up by a 5th ranked welterweight and retires?
Awesome... this is me after the Diaz fight / retirement announcement!

Conor McGregor has lost his opportunity to avenge his only loss in the octagon that he suffered at the hands of Nate Diaz at “UFC 196”. The two were scheduled to clash in the main event of “UFC 200” but McGregor was pulled from the card after he refused to take part in the press conference tour. McGregor retired on Tuesday, only to clarify on Thursday that he was not retiring but rather sitting out the event if the UFC would not allow him to train how he wanted to— without interruptions.

TMZ is now reporting that Dana White and the powers that be in Las Vegas have decided to pull the plug on McGregor and “UFC 200” entirely. After offering to fly him, his team, and all accessories necessary to replicate his gym in Iceland, McGregor denied.

Sources also told TMZ that McGregor would be squaring off with the winner of the interim UFC Featherweight Championship match taking place between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar at “UFC 200”, rather than Nate Diaz. This is likely not a punishment, but rather effective matchmaking to clear up a possible log jam in the featherweight division.
